Colon Cancer

Colon cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, originating in the inner lining of the colon (large intestine). In its early stages, it often develops from polyps, small formations in the mucosa that can transform into malignant lesions over time.

Symptoms

In many cases, colon cancer does not present symptoms in the early stages, making early detection crucial. However, in more advanced stages, signs may include:

  • Persistent changes in bowel habits (diarrhea, constipation, or a feeling of incomplete evacuation).
  • Presence of blood in the stool (red or black color).
  • Abdominal pain or discomfort.
  • Unexplained fatigue or weight loss without apparent cause.

Risk Factors

Risk factors include a family history of colon cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases (such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease), a diet high in fat and low in fiber, smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Early detection is key to improving survival rates. In my practice, I conduct a thorough evaluation using advanced diagnostic methods, such as colonoscopy, imaging tests, and laboratory analysis.

The treatment of colon cancer depends on the stage of the disease and may include:

  • Surgery: In most cases, tumor removal is performed, and if necessary, nearby lymph nodes are also removed.
  • Chemotherapy or radiotherapy: Indicated based on the extent of the disease.
  • Continuous monitoring: To track progress and prevent recurrences.

My commitment is to provide a comprehensive and personalized approach, combining specialized knowledge, advanced technology, and a human touch. If you have a family history, risk factors, or suspicious symptoms, do not hesitate to consult me for early diagnosis and to offer you the most appropriate treatment. Prevention and early care can make a difference.
