Anal Incontinence

Anal incontinence is the involuntary loss of control over the evacuation of gas or feces, which can cause discomfort and significantly affect the quality of life of those who suffer from it. This condition can vary in severity, from occasional minor leaks to a complete inability to control evacuations.

Diagnosis and Treatment

In my practice, I conduct a comprehensive evaluation to identify the underlying causes of incontinence, using tools such as anal manometry, endoanal ultrasound, or specific imaging studies.

The treatment is tailored to the needs of each patient and includes:

  • Conservative therapies: Dietary changes, muscle strengthening through specific exercises (such as Kegel exercises), and management of stool consistency with medications.
  • Biofeedback: A technique that helps train and improve the control of pelvic floor muscles and the anal sphincter.
  • Surgical treatments: In more severe cases, these may include anal sphincter repair, sacral nerve neuromodulation, or even advanced procedures such as the placement of artificial sphincters.

My approach is oriented towards offering personalized solutions, with the aim of restoring anal functionality and improving the quality of life of my patients. If you experience anal incontinence, do not hesitate to seek specialized medical help. I am here to offer you an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
