Anal Abscesses

An anal abscess is a collection of pus in the area around the anus, usually caused by an infection in the anal glands. This condition can be painful and, if not treated properly, can develop into an anal fistula.

Symptoms

  • Severe pain in the anal area, especially when sitting or having a bowel movement.
  • Redness and swelling around the anus.
  • Fever and general discomfort.

Treatment

The main treatment is drainage of the pus to relieve pain and infection. In some cases, surgical treatment may be necessary. Antibiotics are also used to control the infection and prevent complications.

If you experience pain or swelling in the anal area, it is important to seek specialized medical attention for proper diagnosis and treatment.
